God’s Presence

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Last night at prayer meeting Pastor Wilson shared something really great about coming into and encountering God’s presence. He described to us what God does when He is present. He described to us what it feels like to experience God. He described to us how it felt being in God’s presence. Obviously, only someone who has experienced that themselves can share something so intimate.

Something he shared was how we should prepare oursleves and that too many times our hearts are not ready for what God actually wants to do and we miss out. I beleive there’s emmense truth in that. Can we hear if we are not listenting? No we can’t. That’s how God operates. With Moses, he drew near to the burning bush and while God had his attention, He spoke. With Samuel, God called him as a child and while he responded to God under the instruction of Eli, God spoke.

God might be the one to get our attention first, but before He wants to speak we gotta be listening.

Let’s prepare oursleves before conference this weekend. God can do anything. We need to partner with Him. We need to listen, so that He can speak. He loves us and wants the best for us. Ready your heart by spending time in prayer. Why not hear from God right now.

Prayer for you

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

To all the students in the middle of their exams, wishing you all the best blessings. May God’s strength be upon you and His presence empower you to do the best you can in Him. My prayer is that you’d cling tightly onto Him, trusting Him to provide for you as you faithfully live the life He has called you to live.

John 15

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! 8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

Comfort from God’s Word

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

The best comfort is the comfort received from God’s Word. Job’s friend Eliphaz encourages him after he has lost everything around him. I need not say much more. God You’re good!!

Job 5:8-27

8 “If I were you, I would go to God
and present my case to him.
9 He does great things too marvelous to understand.
      He performs countless miracles.
10 He gives rain for the earth
      and water for the fields.
11 He gives prosperity to the poor
      and protects those who suffer.
12 He frustrates the plans of schemers
so the work of their hands will not succeed.
13 He traps the wise in their own cleverness
so their cunning schemes are thwarted.
14 They find it is dark in the daytime,
and they grope at noon as if it were night.
15 He rescues the poor from the cutting words of the strong,
and rescues them from the clutches of the powerful.
16 And so at last the poor have hope,
and the snapping jaws of the wicked are shut.

17 “But consider the joy of those corrected by God!
Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
18 For though he wounds, he also bandages.
He strikes, but his hands also heal.
 19 From six disasters he will rescue you;
even in the seventh, he will keep you from evil.
20 He will save you from death in time of famine,
from the power of the sword in time of war.
21 You will be safe from slander
and have no fear when destruction comes.
 22 You will laugh at destruction and famine;
wild animals will not terrify you.
23 You will be at peace with the stones of the field,
and its wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 You will know that your home is safe.
When you survey your possessions, nothing will be missing.
 25 You will have many children;
your descendants will be as plentiful as grass!
26 You will go to the grave at a ripe old age,
like a sheaf of grain harvested at the proper time!

27 “We have studied life and found all this to be true.
Listen to my counsel, and apply it to yourself.”

Ok I don’t know if anyone reads this blog anymore, but driving home from the gym today I felt God tug upon my heart to spend the next 40 days coming back to the bedrock of my faith and also to praying over some direction for my future.

I am going over Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and will start this Monday.

The book says, a journey is always better when it is shared.

So I’m asking if anyone would you like to join me? All welcome.

Something keeping me alive at the moment
