Tonight we celebrated Torch’s xxth (insert mysterious # here) birthday with some close friends over pizza. It struck me just how much God works through people in our lives to mould and shape us. I know that over the past many years, God has used someone like Torch to not only lead and pastor me, but to encourage and spur me on in so many ways. I’m so incredibly grateful for the man of God in my life.

A few years ago (I can’t quite remember when), I made a deeply personal decision to do as Jonathan’s armour bearer:

1 Samuel 14:6-8 (New International Version)

6 Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few.”

7 “Do all that you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said. “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”

Go ahead, I am with you heart and soul – I just think that there is so much power in those words and in that decision. I know in my own life God has blessed me so much because I made a decision to do all that I can to lift up and support those around me.

In this season of your life, who can you be a great armour bearer to? What type of friend will you choose to be?

Praying for you

Chris
